Once in a Blue Moon Photography
About Linda Hall

What is amazing about photography is that it captures a priceless moment in time, in which the uniqueness of the event might never occur again. It can portray nature in all its glory, like the tranquility of a beautiful sunset, and in all its fury like the approach of a violent summer squall. Photography can convey an understanding of survival in nature, like a blizzard with strong winds and a cascade of blowing snow as migratory geese are posed to endure the storm for as long as it takes. Beautiful textures which characterize man made and naturally made objects can reveal passed time, and make one wonder what adventures occurred during the lifetime of an old splintered boat, that finally made it look so worn and tired.

In my photograph collection, each photo has a story behind it. I hope that when you view my photos your imagination will be awakened, and that they will convey a spiritual or personal message, bringing to you a joyous connection.

My love of photography began while training for many hours along the creeks, rivers and inlets of the Chesapeake Bay in the competitive sport of sculling and rowing. It was here that I discovered the vast beauty of the bay, and the diversity found in nature each season. Many photos were taken in the region of Wye Island on the Eastern Shore, capturing images while rowing, that sometimes lasted only a minute and then were gone.

Launch Site for a Wooden Boat, was the recipient of two photographic awards: “Judges Choice” in Chestertown Arts League competition, and also made selected entry into the Biggs Museum of American Art in Dover, Delaware. “Canada Geese in a Snowstorm” also won first place in a juried competition with the Tidewater Camera Club.

I am a three time gold medalist in the US National Rowing Competition (04), and currently have 16 gold medals from the World Rowing Masters Championships. I am originally from Buffalo, New York, where I obtained a BS degree in art and now reside in Annapolis, Maryland, teaching art. I also have a MA in Adult Education and 60 hours beyond in various interests.
